Raid Lockouts and “Free Loot,” Balkoth, Balkoth’s Word, 8/25/13.

Balkoth discusses an idea he got from Theck at Flex Capacitor (who got it from someone named Thels). What if you got your shot at LFR loot (and/or Flex) when you downed a boss in normal or heroic if you hadn’t done that boss in LFR that week (or Flex)? Raiders would still be encouraged to step up in difficulty but no longer down. Great idea. I’m so mad at Blizzard for not doing something like this already.

Tom Chilton revealed that Blizzard has finished the technology to up-scale dungeons and raids. They’ve yet to find a reward scheme that they liked for it.

Two weeks ago, I wrote a post titled Microtransactions in WoW. Last week I wrote Suggested Reading: Of the in-game store, pay-to-win, statistics, weapons, legendaries, nostalgia, and warlock utility. The author of one of the articles in my Suggested Reading, Balkoth, had a nice discussion with me in the comments. (If you haven’t read it, you should also check out his post titled I Have Discovered the Source of Forum Complaining in Mists! It’s fantastic.)

Anyways, we discussed pay-to-win, farming charms, and more. As people probably don’t go back to check comments, I just wanted to post to let people know that they might want to check the comments here. It’s a good read.

(Plus, I’ve been busy due to San Diego Comic-Con and don’t have anything else ready to post!)

I Have Discovered the Source of Forum Complaining in Mists!, Balkoth, Balkoth’s Word, 4/13/13.

This is an extremely fascinating article.  The idea is that opinions on how much effort gear is worth varies drastically. Balkoth found that 32.7% of responders think you’d be crazy to kill 200 mogu for a BiS heroic ring. Next, 50% think you’d be crazy not to kill 500 mogu for the ring.  At 1000, 41% think you’d be crazy not to go for the ring. Lastly, 13% think 5000+ mogu is reasonable. Blizzard can’t make everyone happy.

Here’s an interesting change. You’ll now have to pick your role when queuing for a battleground. From now on, the difference between the two teams’ number of healers can be no more than one. I wonder if I can just queue as DPS and then heal.
