How to Paint Your Dragon

A few months ago, Devee surprised me with my very own Heart of the Aspects! I named her Sunshine, after my first dog. Sunshine the Dog was a beautiful and rambunctious rottweiler! We were BFFs until he ran away and never came home [true story]. Sunshine the Dragon is also kind of unruly, so I like to take her on long trips in the open air.

We were questing in Uldum when she told me her deepest desire. She loved being gold and shiny, but at the same time, she wished she could identify with one of the dragonflights – the brilliant Reds, the intelligent blues, the thoughtful greens…

Anyway, I came up with the greatest idea! I had some extra dye in my bags, so we painted her scales. The red dye I had on hand was acrylic, so she found it kind uncomfortable to move when it dried. I couldn’t get a good photo because she kept holding her wings awkwardly. The green was our favorite. It was an oil-based paint so it took a while to dry, but she said it was quite comfortable. The color was just gorgeous! The final skin we tried out was this blue Sharpie I found in the bottom of my purse. The problem with color Sharpie is when you try to do one even coat, you inevitably go over one part a second time, and that part gets darker! Then, you do another coat just to even it out again and again. In the photo, you can tell that some spots are darker, but I just gave up.

Now you guys know how to paint your dragon! What color will you try?

I had this crazy dream that a new WoW expansion (not pandaland) came out, and there a was cool new mount from a dungeon! Devee and I usually like doing new content together, but this time, we wanted to do it separately because we only got one attempt per day. Let’s ignore the fact that the content should have been super challenging and impossible to solo. The dungeon was supposed to be in some  catacombs, but it looked more like the outdoor catacombs in Guild Wars.

Andy and I were doing the dungeon at the same time, so I ran there with him. He was playing on his DK, but then when we got to the entrance, the tunnel was too small for us to get in! Then he just turned into a bear and went inside, and I had to find another entrance.

I guess I should mention the gameplay a little. Even though it was a dream about WoW, it wasn’t from the perspective of playing at a computer. I was there, in first person-real life doing arcane explosion to get through the trash. Sometimes my perspective would switch to where I’d see buttons on my screen, but it was still kind of first person.

Anyway, I got inside and cleared through to the middle where there was a cafeteria rest area! There were a ton of people! I was all confused by these people in my instance, but I remembered to tell Devee about this cool little hub. Also, I was trying to stay away from French fries. Also, now were were inside a catacomb-cave (catacave).

While I was checking out the hotdog stand, I ran into someone from work. It turns out that the mount boss could be one of the random “teachers” from real life. He walked with me down to the boss room since I was headed there.

When we got there, another team was waiting to go, so I watched them fight my co-worker. My random boss showed up… and it was my 10th grade math teacher, Mrs. Ikegami! She asked for my daily boss/mount voucher, so I fumbled around looking for it. The voucher was actually a joker card in a pack of UNO. I had no idea why the WoW devs thought this was an OK thing to do.

Anyway, we started the fight! I was frustrated because I couldn’t cast spells because the pushback was too crazy! So I punched and punched and punched and punched! But I wasn’t good enough! I blacked out for a bit, and when I came to, I was at half health. I don’t know what happened.

There were more people that came to solo the boss, but I told them that it was pretty tough, and that we should party! One of them was hesitant because he wasn’t going for the mount but some funny parchment that always drops. I said he could “haz.”

When Mrs. Ikegami came back, she told me that I couldn’t fight because I lost my last attempt. I argued that it was an attempt, so I should get to try again!

I got to cast spells! I looked at my bars and saw that I was in Fire, but the display was like Tor. I only had one bar!! AMG!!! But we won so it was OK.

When we rolled, I got a 99, and I was all like “YAY! I won the mount!!” But the rolling system was weird! The first roll was to determine the order for the actual roll… if that makes sense. We were rolling to determine in what order we would roll. On the second round, I rolled a 38. Boo. But one of the other guys gave me the mount anyway, so I was super happy!!

I might have accidentally hit the print screen button

This might come as a surprise, but… I grew up kind of sheltered. My parents sent me off to study the arcane arts as soon as I was able to grip a wand, and all the other kids of Lady Lissenthria’s Academy of the Arcane (LLAA) decided that I was as pleasant as a grumpy dwarf-man in a tutu.

When my combat magic professor told me that although my arcane barrage was a shimmery spectacle, I was absolutely useless – probably first dead –  on the battlefield, I had to get the hell out of there. I went to Kalimdor for the first time and really fell in love with the people. Especially the Taurens! They’re so big and huggable! They give the BEST hugs.

I remember the first time that I reported to Thrall – he was so welcoming and willing to listen. My task at the time felt so small compared to the rest of the Warchief’s concerns, but he listened and took action.

I don’t remember what I was doing in this picture, but it certainly brings back memories. My hair hasn’t been black for five years! OMG!

Blog. B-lawg. Buhlau-gh. This is such a weird word! It’s kind of clumsy with the the “Bl” in the beginning and the “og” at the end. I imagine that if a blog were to move around, it would move around by plopping. The letter ‘g’ doesn’t occur in Thalassian very often… so I think it might be considered an ugly word, but that’s why I like it!

Devee asked me to put down my thoughts in this console-thing to share with other people. The idea seemed kind of weird, but he was so gung-ho about it that I couldn’t say no. Since then, I’ve learned a lot about all kinds of things! I especially like the people who blog about food. Mmm!!

Day 1 – Introduce yourself

Hi everyone! I don’t usually talk about myself like this, but I guess that’s what this challenge is all about! My name is Mooglegem – my parents were planning to name me something normal like Theresa or Regina, but after my mom’s first drunken night on the town since my conception, it was decided – my name is Mooglegem.

I love dogs! Growing up in Silvermoon made me feel like I had to be a cat lover. Sure, they’re soft and cuddly… until you cuddle them too much and they start biting you and your eyes start swelling up and your skin gets red and bumpy. I might be the only Blood Elf who is allergic to cats. Anyway, I love dogs! They’re so friendly! I actually love all kinds of animals – the larger, the better. I considered studying to be an animal keeper, but my parents were repulsed by the idea of me smelling of animal musk and cleaning up poop. I excelled with the arcane arts, so I studied magery instead.

… and now you know all about me! Yay!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Zug Zug

I actually made these totally sweet confections for my guild’s Secret Santa, but I never got around to posting them.

About a year ago, Harley sent me pictures of these beautiful Horde cookies from C is for Cupcakes with one sentence: “but how do we make them?!” They’re pretty fancy looking – with fondant maybe? …probably? I haven’t tried working with fondant yet. It sounds like a lot of work. Maybe I’ll make it a goal to try working with fondant by the end of this year. Hm…

I was pretty intrigued by the idea of making Horde cookies for months – I didn’t want to put a lot of time into planning them, but I really wanted to make them. Eventually, I got off my lazy butt and started researching custom cookie cutters. I severely mangled a few cookie cutters before I ended up with this thing:

Man, I need some RL blacksmithing skills. >__>

The hardest part was flopping these symbols onto the oval portion. The little arms would rip off, and I’d have to roll it out again. I’m sure if I had the patience to stick it in the fridge after every step (roll it out, stick it in the fridge, cut, stick it in the fridge, flop, stick it in the fridge, repeat), I could have avoided some real aggravation, but… *ahem* Thrall’s balls! The Horde doesn’t wait for anyone!

Leading the Cavalry

In the last few weeks, I’ve been bombarded with mounts and pets! I’ve become exalted with the guild and finished the Firelands, which I guess only means that I’ve gained 3 mounts, but I swear it feels like a lot when I don’t know which ones to put on my bars. When I learned the Flameward Hippogryph, I was pleasantly surprised with Leading the Cavalry! Hooray!

I never went out of my way to purchase all the faction mounts – I mean, I really don’t know what I’d do with seven skeletal horses. Maybe I’ll start collecting them now to work up to the Red Dragonhawk!

World of Troncraft!

A few months ago, my paladin was flying out of the tunnel in Undercity when the world flickered and changed…

When she emerged, the skies were filled with Retribution, Devotion, and  a Hammer of Justice! Clearly, she had a lot of paladin-y things on her mind.

Happy Hallow’s End

I had a lot of fun during the Hallow’s End event this year! I feel like video games make holidays feel way more festive for me. For instance, I don’t usually throw together costumes or go out trick or treating, but I celebrate in-game by doing the quests annually. Plus, the cities in WoW have more decorations (A GIANT PUMPKIN IN UNDERCITY! YAY!) than I expect to ever see in Irvine, CA.

Anyway, my mage is super happy with her new Feline Familiar! I collect a lot of pets for her, but this one is actually a familiar! I loved the kitty’s witch hat so much that I found one to match :)

Arena!

I love PvP. I love battlegrounds. I love watching Blizzcon’s arena tournaments! All that being said, I’m never really enthusiastic about entering the arena myself. I get overly nervous, and I realize what I should be doing a half-second too late!

Anyway, Devee’s always asking me to arena with him for Conquest points, and after a few rounds, I’m usually a shaky wreck. Last Wednesday, however, I found myself with a spare hour (too short for a heroic or dailies), so I offered to play in the arenas.

This week was really amazing! We had great communication, and I was able to keep calm (most of the time). I felt like I had much more control when my emotions were in check, and it really shows! We were able to get all our conquest points for 2v2 arena! Yay!
